Anna Slepneva, also known as Anna Sirin, is a Russian illustrator, based in London. Anna is interested in telling stories through her work. She finds inspiration in ordinary things and life routine.
Lately, she has been identifying herself as a documentary illustrator, as she prefers to work with real stories, both others’ and her own. In her projects, she mixes classic comics, works with archival materials, essays and classic illustrations. The object of Anna's interest is always a person and their emotions, traumas, memory and identity. The communication of feelings, the creation of an impression and the effect of a witness are essential in her art.
In terms of techniques, she is attracted to the lively language of sketching and working with materials such as charcoal and graphite or their digital imitation, as well as analog printing techniques.
